2023. Tools to promote transparency and accountability in education

The IIEP-UNESCO online course on Tools to promote transparency and accountability in education was organized virtually from 17 May to 16 June 2023 for the grantees of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) “Education Out Loud” (EOL) fund for advocacy and social accountability. The course allows participants to assess potential areas of risk in the education system and provides key tools and techniques to address them. By the end of the course, participants are able to: • Explain how transparency, accountability and anti-corruption can help achieve SDG 4. • Describe key characteristics and uses of selected tools to diagnose corruption problems in education systems. • Assess advantages and disadvantages of each tool to identify and address corrupt practices in your context. Participants who are awarded a Certificate of Successful Completion - Advanced completed all the course work, including individual study, contributions to interactive discussion forums, participation in live sessions, and individual quizzes. Advanced Level participants also completed a group assignment to prepare an action plan for implementing one tool to enhance transparency and accountability in their education system. They spent an average of 25 hours on coursework.
