GPE-IIEP Training on the Fundamentals of Independent Appraisal of Education Sector Plans

The purpose of the GPE-IIEP Training on the Fundamentals of Independent Appraisal of Education Sector Plans is to introduce interested experts to the key steps and considerations in assessing the soundness and feasibility of an education plan, and the process by which the plan was produced. The self-paced, interactive course features eight dynamic modules. It requires roughly 15 to 20 hours of learning time, depending on level of experience. Participants can start and complete it at any time, and should be able to do the following by the end of the training: 1. Describe GPE’s vision, mission and approach to support the preparation of good-quality education plans. 2. Explain the key characteristics of robust education sector plans as outlined in the Guidelines for the preparation of Education Sector Plans (ESPs) and Transitional Education Plans (TEPs). 3. Explain the technical steps involved in the preparation of ESPs and TEPs. 4. Use the GPE guidelines for the appraisal of Education Sector Plans (ESPs) in a real context. 5. Use the GPE guidelines for the appraisal of Transitional Education Plans (TEPs) in a real context. 6. Analyse organisational and ethical considerations when planning the appraisal of an education sector plan. 7. Conduct an in-country appraisal mission, from the kick-off meeting to the sharing of findings from the draft appraisal report. 8. Finalize the appraisal report and plan the post-appraisal activities. Those awarded a Certificate of Successful Completion have also completed a variety of self-assessment exercises that complement the course. IIEP team members review the exercise submissions and provide written feedback.
