The IIEP-UNESCO Tailor-made course ‘Open Government in Education’, organized from 17 June to 19 July 2024, was aimed to provide a contextualisation of the open government movement in the education sector and to delve into the implementation of four different open government mechanisms which are applicable to the education sector, namely: open school data, open budgeting, open contracting, and social auditing.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
• Explain the concept of open government and how it is applied in the education sector;
• Recognize key characteristics of open government mechanisms including open school data, open budgeting, open contracting, and social auditing;
• Develop a comprehensive Action plan tailored to your country's context for implementing a selected open government mechanism to enhance transparency, participation, and accountability in education;
• Discuss the challenges to the successful implementation and impact of open government mechanisms.
Participants who are awarded a Certificate of Successful Completion completed all the course individual and group work, including reading interactive learning modules, contributing to discussion forums, submitting quizzes and group works assignments.
They spent an average of 5 hours on coursework over a span of 4 weeks, totaling 20 learning hours.
